About Sarah

Sarah Visser is a vibrant and versatile Canadian circus artist known for her commanding aerial work, theatrical expressiveness, and magnetic stage energy. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, she specializes in Dance Trapeze, Aerial Silks, Aerial Hoop, Contortion, and Fire Eating, with a broad generalist background that includes aerial straps, chandelier, duo aerial, swinging trapeze and fire manipulation.

With a background in competitive gymnastics and over a decade of movement training, Sarah brings powerful physicality, refined technique, and bold character work to every act. Her performances blend dramatic storytelling with striking visuals, captivating audiences in both intimate venues and large-scale productions.

Career highlights include headlining her signature dance trapeze act under the Spiegeltent in Firefly Theatre & Circus’s The Great, Great Spiegel Spectacular, and performing dance trapeze, fire aerial hoop, and fire eating in Starslingers by Le Cirque De La Nuit at the 2024 Calgary Stampede—a high-energy, immersive show for a large festival audience.

In 2025, Sarah performed aerial hoop and contortion aboard the P&O Iona cruise ship with Creativiva and Anystage Creative, entertaining international audiences at sea as the ship sailed through Norway, Spain, and the UK.

She has also been featured at events including TED Vancouver (2024), SPARK Arts Festival, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation Gala, and the Alberta Circus Arts Festival, consistently delivering high-impact, visually compelling acts.

Additional experience includes performing dance trapeze over a pool of water in Waterbark, a production by Milord Entertainment. Staged in both Edmonton and Kentucky, the show featured Sarah swinging above water in a dynamic, open-air setting that showcased her strength, fluidity, and ability to adapt to unconventional performance environments.

Sarah completed her professional circus training at École de cirque de Québec (2017–2020) and continued advanced development with world-renowned swinging trapeze coach Victor Fomine at École Léotard in Montreal. She is a recipient of multiple professional development grants from Canada Council for the Arts and En Piste, supporting her growth in aerial technique and career expansion.

When not performing around the world, Sarah coaches aerial arts, sharing her knowledge and passion with the next generation of circus artists.
